Hello fellow sojourners! Welcome to my site, Simply Sojourning. I share about sojourning in a quickly changing world, being satisfied with less, prepping in a van, photography, watercolor painting, enjoying God’s great creation – outdoors, blooming where planted – indoors, learning new skills, being that happy, helpful spouse, parent and/or grandparent & MORE all while singing ceaseless praises to our Lord Jesus Christ every day that I’m sojourning on this earth and until we, all His children, join Him in the place where He has gone to prepare for us, that we may be permanent residents there with Him forever.
Ultimately, my goal is to share:
“Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report” and to encourage you all, my brothers and sisters in Christ to think on these things.
Meanwhile, may we be His “good and faithful servants” doing His work until He comes, aspiring to make merry the hearts of others, and bringing Him ceaseless praise along the way!

Please note, I will also be sharing my faith and scripture along the way, as these are a big part of why I do what I do.

What’s the definition of a Sojourner? Simply put it means to “stay temporarily, to dwell for a time; or to visit as a temporary resident;” It is from the Old French: sojorner “stay or dwell for a time,” and from the Latin *subdiurnare “to spend the day“
What does the bible have to say about the Sojourner?
Job 31:32
(the sojourner has not lodged in the street;
I have opened my doors to the traveler)
Psa 39:12
Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were.
She gave birth to a son, and he called his name Gershom, for he said, “I have been a sojourner in a foreign land.
Exo 12:40
Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years.
Deu 10:19
Love the sojourner, therefore, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt.
Deu 16:11
And you shall rejoice before the LORD your God, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, the Levite who is within your towns, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow who are among you, at the place that the LORD your God will choose, to make his name dwell there.
1 Peter 1:3-24
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,
who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials,
so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories. It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look. Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance,
but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile (AKA Sojourning -KJV),
knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you
who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God. Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;
